![]() ![]() The hitch locks positively and unlatches much easier than my previous combo. Still getting used to hitching this combo. Also, with the tonneau cover rolled up, I loose some of my read vision so I rely on the CHMSL-bed camera. The only issue so far is getting used to hitching since the hitch plate has a smaller opening than my previous Reese. Towed that combo for 9 years all over the country - it was pretty well matched although at the top end of the truck's CC. ![]() On rough roads I do notice the camper at times, but it is smoother than my prior camper, truck, hitch, inbox setup (that was a 2005 Chevy Duramax 1 ton CCLB 9900lb GVWR with a Reese 18K Signature series puck mount hitch, a Demo GlideRide pinbox on a 2010 Open Range 399BHS. Over smooth roads I forget I am towing (very smooth). There are no issues with interference and the Bak Revolver X4 tonneau cover. I went with the B&W Companion with the puck mounts for my Ford F350. That said if you want to go the traditional fifth wheel route you can’t do better than the B&W Companion. At home it isn’t much of an issue, but there’s been a few times when I was on the road that I needed the bed and I’d have to take the hitch out and even with my Andersen that was more of a pain than I wanted, never mind an actual fifth wheel hitch. I love that when I unhook all I have in the truck is the goose ball, no fifth wheel hitch to deal with. ![]() I run a GooseBox with a BakFlip with no clearance issues at all. I have a Bak Revolver X4 tonou cover so one concern with the goose box is turning clearance w/bed rails/ tonou cover rails - they add 1/2 inch in height but take away about 3” per side in width. My question is do I get a Reese 5th wheel goose box pin box (With proper chains and goose ball) or do I get a B&W companion hitch and replace the Lippert 1621 with a MorRyde cushioned pin box? I have ordered a Grand Design Solitude S-class 2930RL so the pinbox is a Lippert 1621 as stock (does not come with a cushioned pin box). Truck has 12400 gvwr with 4460lbs payload.
